Pixie.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012
I finally did it.
I took the plunge. I went down the less taken road. I manned up [ er I mean pixied up?! ].
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that today I cut my hair.
OFF.
HACKED.
SNIP.
Okay I'm done with the dramatics.

I've been wanting a pixie for a long time but I wasn't sure I had the face type, the hair type, or the bravery necessary.
But I am really into that show with Ginnifer Goodwin, Once Upon a Time... and every week I would almost literally die when I saw how cute she was and how she rocked it so good.
Well she plays the Snow White character, and growing up Snow White was always my favorite not to mention I was Snow White for probably 5 Halloweens in a row.
I decided it was a sign.. I just needed to do it.
So today I did.

I can totally mohawk it if I want.
Isn't that enough said?!
I pretty much love.

It's funny how doing something that you have been mulling over for a while can be so liberating.

Let's have a little chat.

Thursday, December 15, 2011
Here I am again with about a zillion things I have on my mind lately. So I thought today we could sit down & chat a little.
Grab your diet coke and hold on because my mind is all over the place today.

-I'm a little sad that we aren't having a big birthday party for Gracie. But my husband is so right, 1- we just moved and hardly know anyone, 2- she is only 1 and will have no idea 3- it is Christmas and we have so much going on already. However, we are going to have family over for cupcakes and I am doing some no hassle decorations.

My poor Christmas baby is already jipped. I hope she'll forgive me.

First of all a crown is in order. Here it is without embellishments yet.
I keep changing my mind what to put on it so it's still bare. The moda fabric totally makes me happy though. Hopefully inspiration strikes soon.

-I am also making one of these for my daughter. Well she's only 1 so really it's more for me but I just think it will be darling hanging in our house on her birthday. Maybe a birthday banner would be nice too.

I want to make one of these for her too. Darling right?

-Husband and I are on a major diet. I'm mostly doing it to support him.... but the 5 lbs I lost in one week is fine with me too :). However you severely cut out carbs and man, I miss my bread and pasta. Diet coke is my one last comfort.

-I love little peeks of Christmas all over my house. My current favorite is my pink poinsettias in a basket on my counter.
Gorgeous.

-My husband asked me to write a list of things I want for Christmas because I'm a little all over the place because I want things for me, but need things for my little business. So torn.

-Also, there is a whole new section of my shop called Little Blooms that have fun little things for little girls.
Of course I say that lightly because I may or may not wear these clips myself.
My shop will continue to grow at my own little snail pace. I have a lot that is waiting to be listed in the upcoming days.

-Tonight I am going to my first bead party and I am really excited. Gracie just loves those little necklaces and I am so excited to put one together for her.

Okay I think that is all, now with all that out there I can focus a little better.

Pieces of our holiday weekend.

Monday, April 25, 2011
It was quite the eventful weekend.
We had lots of little fun things to do for the Easter holiday.
But we still did the typical errands and had some time to let our lazy bones take over.
I would say perfect amount of busy, mixed with perfect amount of lazy.

I made this tutu for my niece Paige as a little Easter gift.
She was more interested in the bag it was wrapped in then the skirt.
But I think it turned out darling!
Her mom likes it at least, haha.

Husband doesn't do photos very willingly.
Here he is munching on some chips and salsa.
We went to lunch at our most favorite mexican restaurant.
BUT then I got food poisoning and unfortunately I think it was from this place.
I don't care. I still love it.

I put together a little tulip arrangement for our easter dinner at my sis in law's,
This beauty broke when I was arranging the others so I snipped it and used one of our mugs as a vase [please hold back white trash comments]
It's now bringing a dose of sunshine to our kitchen sink.

I made these strawberries into some yummy strawberry shortcake for Easter dessert.

It was a wonderful weekend, with a some less wonderful  moments [ food poisoning, yuck ]
I love when I get to spend time with my little family.

Little wonderfuls.

There is so much joy in simple things.
Last night after the babe fell asleep I made myself a treat.
I've been on a hardcore crave train... I blame this on the diet.
I peeled a banana and melted some chocolate trips.. so delicious!
Mmmm. I want some right now.

I painted my toes while I watched Sex and The City 2.
Guilty pleasure.
Husband hates everything to do with Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda.

4 month old baby girl

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

My daughter is 4 months old! She's is growing into such a beautiful little girl.
Well I think she's been beautiful since day 1.
She is getting so big, I don't know when she got this big.
She's in the 92 percentile for weight
88th percentile for head size
82th percentile for length
aka she's a good sized babe.
She eats 1st foods (well kinda).
She loves baby einstein play time music.
She kicks her legs when she gets really excited.
She cracks up when you make funny noises.
She loves to munch on her little hands.
She sleeps 12-13 hours every single night.
She LOVES bed time, she falls right asleep every night on her own.
She loves to be held and loved on.
She is mesmerized by colors, especially bright ones.
She loves Disney movies, her favorite is UP.
She loves her bumbo.
She loves to go shopping with mommy and grandma.
She loves ceiling fans, she just watches them go round and round.
She loves her pink puppy that sings music to her.
She loves headbands (or is that mommy? haha).
She loves patty cake.

She is so perfect. We were blessed with an angel baby I'm tellin ya.

The little things we do

Today I went to Subway for lunch and ordered what I always order.
Cold cut trio, lots of veggies, topped with oil, vinegar, and oregano.
It's like second nature to get that sandwhich.
Then I read what exactly a "cold cut trio" is and I was a little repulsed.
I thought to myself "why on earth do I eat THAT sandwhich, ew."
But then it dawned on me, that's what my dad always ordered us kids from subway.
It's true, whenever we would stop on a road trip (that's the only time we ate at Subway as a family)
The kids would go sit down and dad would order sandwhiches for us all.
We never really chose, it was just, "this is what I got you, now eat kiddos."
You think that since I am now a grown up I would have explored other sandwhich options at Subway by now.
I still order the same thing, with oil, vinegar, and oregano... just like dad always did.

It got me thinking how many things do each of us do each day just out of habit
What things do you think you like but just like because you don't know any different?
I know there are so many things in my life that I do a certain way, or think is the best thing ever... but on second thought they're just things that were instilled in me by my parents.
Day to day, lifelong traditions, just the little things that they passed along to their children.
Funny thing to think huh?

I wonder what my little Gracie will continue to do through her life just because that's the way I do things.
Hopefully she only picks up on the good things, and not the bad tendencies.
That's every parent's hope right?
