DIY Board & Batten Entry Wall.

Tuesday, June 23, 2015
I'm finally getting around to sharing some projects that we have finished recently in our home.
Today I am sharing one of my very favorites... and perhaps the easiest with the greatest amount of impact.

We recently added a board & batten wall treatment on the entry way wall of our little abode. I have to admit that I put off this project over and over because I was afraid of the cost + time commitment of it all, but it really cost us under $50 and took one afternoon.
Not kidding.
I had a hard time finding a suitable tutorial to do it the way I envisioned it working + turning out, so I plan to share the way we went about this wall so inexpensively and how we problem solved our way into making this such a breeze project.
For now, here are a bunch of pretty pictures... because that's what we're here for! I think the decor on this wall has been ever changing since it was completed, but here is how it currently looks.

The bench is from Downeast Home.
Mirror & rosette pillow is Threshold for Target.
Gingham Pillow Ikea.
Stool is vintage.
Baskets & pot are Homegoods.

Cheery lemon wreath is Threshold for Target.
Bag is Target.
Monogram is from Etsy.
Hooks are from Home Depot.

I relocated our family gallery wall to the photo ledge we added. I love the homey touch of having them all lined up as guests enter our home. I've collected the frames from Target & Ikea over the years.

Also, that snake plant is a sur-viv-or. It has been amazing me with its will to live spite my negligence.  Plus, it's cool to look at so win win.
This wall is not only beautiful but it adds a LOT of function not to mention impact to our little home. The bang for your buck is definitely worth it! Stay tuned for the details.

Making the perfect gift.

Saturday, September 20, 2014
My very best friend from my teenagerhood is getting married & I am SO excited for her to join the amazing world of the married's.
I really love to give gifts with a special touch, that will still have meaning and significance in years to come. Little touches go a long way to make a present stand out among the hoards of wedding presents.

I am so in love with this card I ordered from Treat by Shutterfly
It is custom designed &made for my specific occasion and is even LESS expensive than a lot of standard cards at the regular store.
Plus, there's only ONE like it in the world. Talk about upping the special factor.

There are so many beautiful customizable designs on their website for all occasions to choose from.

I'm adding this card on top of a special present that I don't want to share just yet, since the wedding hast happened yet.. eh emm. I am so excited to add this sweet touch as the icing on top of something beautiful and handmade for my dear friend.

Favorite Things: Pennants & Banners.

Tuesday, July 3, 2012
My current "thing" is pennants & banners.
Seriously, I think every room of my house has some kind different kind in it. They are such a cinch to make, and add a handmade homeyness. I think they are pretty much the perfect touch.

Here are a few of the ones that we have around our home. They are made out of various things from my craft stash.

The paint chip banner in my craft room.

Family Picture & Doily banner in the bay windows of our breakfast nook.

Scrapbook Paper banner in our family room.

Burlap & Fabric banner in Gracie's nursery.

They're all over, all made from different mediums. But I love them all! Are you a pennant banner addict like me?

Hoe Down.

Thursday, June 7, 2012
I serve as an Activity Days leader for my church. We plan activities for the 10-11 year old girls that help develop their talents and teach them a lot about their own self worth.
I. love. my. calling.
This week we had a Father- Daughter Hoe Down for all the girls and their dads 8-11.

I really loved how the decorations turned out. Here are just a few snapshots:

I totally forgot to take a picture of the awesome photo booth that Molly made. Dangit. It was pretty legit. We had each of the girls pose with their dads, and mustaches. They turned out pretty hilarious.

We had an array of mason jars to use as glasses at each table with chalkboard labels on them so that they could claim their cup. Not to mention real life wildflowers on every table that were picked from a vacant lot near where we live.

A little bit of the food table.

The dessert table was just as pretty.

The pictures I swear don't do it justice. The gym was transformed and SO awesome. It was so much fun to see the girls having a special night with their dads having a total blast line dancing, and cowboy relay racing.
