A classic & fresh master bathroom.

Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Our home has a lot of great things about it, and we have been slowly making it our own.
Lately, the bathrooms have been on my mind because they remain pretty builder grade and boring. Before I start any project, especially large scale and pricey I like to research products and figure out what is out there.
I found a great website called Modern Bath. On their website they pretty much have everything you could dream up for a Kitchen or Bathroom redesign. It was a lot of fun looking through their website and put together pieces I would love in our own master bathroom.

I don't really like a lot going on in bathrooms, I think they should always feel fresh and clean.
So a light & crisp color palette is very important in my world.
I love fresh mixed with classics, all the hardware I chose are very classic and pretty.
I've been dying over these widespread style faucets that are all the rage right now. Even if they weren't trendy I would still love them because their nod to vintage, farmhouse style, and classic charm.
Best of all worlds? I think I found it... in a faucet.

Shared Boy & Girl Room Inspiration

Friday, September 5, 2014
Right after I finally got in the groove for Grace's room, and posted about it. She started BEGGING me to let her share rooms with her baby brother. I was really hesitant at first, a toddler + a  baby in the same room... EEK. Plus, I thought I was going to have to kiss cute rooms for the both of them goodbye.

You can see Grace's room here
And Hudson's room here

Anyways, I realized that she REALLY genuinely wanted to share a room with her brother because she loved him SO much. One day she came to me and said, "Mom, I don't care if my room has flowers, I just want to share it with my brother."
How could I say no to that.

Before taking the plunge I had a couple test nights. But after the first excitement filled night, I found that they slept BETTER together. Weird right?
I'm getting a bonified office out of this, and I found out my kids love each other in MASS amounts... even more than I thought. Winning all around.

I have already begun the decor change, but I thought I would share my inspiration board with you because it's REALLY hard to find cute ideas for a shared gender kid space.
And because I really like the direction it's heading.
It's very neutral which is good for my decorator whims that are bound to happen. I did add just a little bit of color added with the turquoise accent fabrics I plan to bring in through pillows and perhaps a few other ways.
I actually have two matching vintage spindle beds like the ones from my inspiration picture.
Right now the baby is still in a crib, so eventually he will have the bedding shown.
The bedding is from Ikea.
The art is Lindsay Letters.
The rug is Urban Outfitters.
The pendant is Ikea.
The fabrics are from fabric.com.
And the cute little dollies are handmade from Cotton Candy Dollies here in Arizona. I'm actually collaborating with the owner of this shop for a FUN project in the next couple weeks.

Of course there will be a few DIY projects mixed in because I can't help myself.

Classic boy [navy blue & orange] nursery.

Friday, March 1, 2013
I've been asked, or rather told that it is "so hard" to put together little boy rooms. So I thought I'd share a little inspiration board of things I'm mulling over for my very own boy nursery
[still so surreal... there's going to be a little boy running around here?! strange!]

I'm already 23 weeks, more than half way done so I guess it's time I get some solid ideas on a nursery for this little man.

Sorry I haven't been around the blog world lately. Interior design school tried to eat me alive last month... it partially succeeded which is why I haven't posted in so long. I would say I will get better... but no promises. I decided to take really time consuming classes the semester that I was pregnant... awesome idea I know!

I am really excited about putting this little guy's room together though! &even more excited for baby boy to be here already [far too soon for this talk I know.]

A big girl room for Gracieloo.

Thursday, October 18, 2012
My baby is almost 2! With the number of times that girl has climbed out of bed... a big girl room has definitely been on my mind!
I'm afraid / in denial of her needing a real bed, and all that junk.
I mean seriously, wasn't she just born?
Ok- done with my mom rant.

I am a fan of making a girl room SUPER girly, especially if that matches who your child is. I mean Grace is SO that girl. A classic beauty, if I do say so myself.

I love this color paint by Benjamin Moore. It's saturated, and can read coral depending on what you pair it with. Love it with LOTS of white & light accents. It's fresh, and I think it will grow with her. T-minus 5 months till we buy our house & I can paint!

I really want to find a Jenny Lind style bed, but they are SO expensive/nonexistant to find one used. So I might go something more french provincial.

I love this bedding from Rachel Ashwell's line at Target.

I have been wanting to do this idea from Dear Lillie for a while now. It's so whimsical & fun for kids.

Grace already has a really pretty dresser that I redid for her, some fun knobs are a necessity for a little girl. These ones are from Anthropologie.

I love this I am a Child of God print from Persimmon and Pink. She's closing her shop, BOO! So that means you need to order this month!

Every little girl's room needs a chandelier. Well if you live in AZ it needs a ceiling fan, but I really love this one from Ikea, love the price too!

The artwork & rug are from Pottery Barn Kids. But-- I'm thinking about having Grace help me do a water color painting with all the colors of the room to really pull it all together.

Inspiration: serene with a vintage touch.

Thursday, September 13, 2012
I'm still alive over here, slowly but surely getting things done. Have I mentioned how HARD it is to go back to school and be a mom. Holy crap! The end isn't even in sight which scares the bejeesus out of me.
My husband is all like, "Oh btw I'm changing careers in a month" and I'm so excited, but bracing myself for a BIG change in our family's life. We are so blessed with opportunities lately it's insane, I've just been trying to hold on for dear life, and maybe smile every now and then so people don't worry about my mental state and my change accepting troubles.

Okay, so onto prettier and more serene things. My client contacted me asking for help picking out pieces for her families great room. She has one of those fabulous open floor plans. You know the ones that everyone wants, but then turn less fabulous when you realize you have to bring it all together some how. And you realize just how HUGE of a room you have, and you're like "OH MY GOSH!" freaking out.

The main thing to remember when you have a space and you want to make it feel coherent is repetition. If you have a rustic chandelier in over your dining table, you need to repeat the same feel in lamps in your sitting area. Make sense? I love little industrial touches when doing something pretty and vintage in style. Those stools are great! I have them in  my own home actually. And they mimic the industrial vibe of the chandelier, and add some subway art to repeat the feeling once more.

We just found a great dresser for her TV to rest on. I love dressers as TV console units because I think they add soul and character. Not to mention a TON of storage.

Can we just take a minute to talk about that chandelier? It's from World Market, here. It's super affordable and I kind of love it!
