Fresh flowers from The Bouq's.

Wednesday, December 3, 2014
I absolutely love fresh flowers. Anywhere & everywhere for any reason possible.
I absolutely love this bouquet that I received from The Bouq's.
I like simple but beautiful flowers. Their bouquets are perfect for just that.

All of their bouquets really highlight the beauty of the flowers.
&I love that they are completely affordable.
Did I mention they're beautiful?

DIY Blanket Ladder.

Wednesday, November 19, 2014
I thought I would share my quick DIY blanket ladder that I quickly built a little while back.

This was seriously SO easy.
Isn't it funny that the simplest DIY projects tend to be your favorite?
Honestly, this cost like $4 and took me about 15 minutes to build.
All I did was buy inexpensive 1x2 stripes of pine from Lowes.
I totally eyeballed the height...  mine ended up being about 6' tall and each horizontal strip is about 20".

I simply measured, and screwed the pieces together with long wood screws.
Stained it Dark Walnut by Minwax & wha-la.
Seriously, anyone can do it.
You can even have Lowes cut the wood to size if you aren't so sure about using a saw.

I love having our pretty throw blankets on display and it adds a little bit of cozy to our family room.

Farmhouse Console with Classic Grey stain.

Tuesday, November 18, 2014
You might remember a couple months ago I showed you the awesome DIY Farmhouse console that my husband built for us.
I loved it, but I quickly started thinking that the wood tones made the space feel a lot darker & smaller than I liked.
I ran across Minwax Classic Grey stain at Home Depot and knew it would have been a better choice than the Dark Walnut we had.
So... we sold that console. And my husband made me a fresh new one.
Doesn't he rock? Ohh, the things he puts up with.

Here is the new & improved Farmhouse Console in Classic Grey by Minwax.
I really love how the wood grain shows through.

You might notice that our TV is miniature right now... that would be because there may have been an unfortunate event involving water, a paintbrush, and an artistic 3 yr old.
Insert angry and laughing emoticon.
Haha.

Favorite pieces to finish those nearly done rooms.

Friday, October 10, 2014
Today I thought I would share a few things I have my eye on from online shopping.
I shop a lot okay, it's a problem.
My husband is looking into therapy.

Anyways, one of my favorite places to shop & compare things is Overstock.
Mostly because they have A LOT of stuff, pretty much whatever I can dream up.
I've had good luck ordering items from them in the past.
I find that they are a good source to look at when the heavy lifting is done and you really just want to make a room pretty.
So pretty much this is the stage a LOT of people get stuck out.
I gathered a few of my favorites from their site that you can order and finish those half done rooms right away if you wish.

A classic & fresh master bathroom.

Wednesday, September 17, 2014
Our home has a lot of great things about it, and we have been slowly making it our own.
Lately, the bathrooms have been on my mind because they remain pretty builder grade and boring. Before I start any project, especially large scale and pricey I like to research products and figure out what is out there.
I found a great website called Modern Bath. On their website they pretty much have everything you could dream up for a Kitchen or Bathroom redesign. It was a lot of fun looking through their website and put together pieces I would love in our own master bathroom.

I don't really like a lot going on in bathrooms, I think they should always feel fresh and clean.
So a light & crisp color palette is very important in my world.
I love fresh mixed with classics, all the hardware I chose are very classic and pretty.
I've been dying over these widespread style faucets that are all the rage right now. Even if they weren't trendy I would still love them because their nod to vintage, farmhouse style, and classic charm.
Best of all worlds? I think I found it... in a faucet.

Functional and small office nook.

Wednesday, July 23, 2014
Since moving into our house almost a year ago it's been a game of musical rooms.
Our house isn't HUGE so I have to find ways to get the greatest amount of use and functionality out of every square inch.
And I have two little curious children on my hands so emphasis on functionality.
And workability.

I had my desk tucked into the guest room but I found that I needed to work more than when the kids were asleep, so I moved my desk out of there and put it smack dab in our family room.
I can work and watch them play at the same time.

This space felt like an outlaw and cramped... so I put my designer brain on... resisted the urge to move the desk out... and took a little trip to Homegoods on the hunt for a large mirror to make the space feel bigger, and more like it belonged.
Ta-da. Homegoods always has my back.

So.. I came home, hung it up.. did what any good blogger does when they hang something on the wall... I took some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I picked up this Threshold desk from Target a few months ago, I love it.

I found this vintage chair, I plan on painting it up with some Miss Mustard Seed Milkpaint, but I can't decide on a color... so there it sits in its yellowy oak glory.

It's kind of an unconventional space for a desk, but I'm keeping it real. I think real people have kids that fill the rooms in their houses and don't have a great office space.
So there it is.

And to get an idea of where it is in our family room... and just how small of a space I'm working with.

The story of a toy box.

Monday, June 30, 2014
I recently redid a toy box that has been around since my birth or before I'm pretty sure. It was my toy box when I was a kid, and I have many fond memories of my brothers putting me inside and sitting on the top so I couldn't get out.
The life of the only girl and 3 brothers.
Enchanting I know.
It's gone through many face lifts throughout the years, at one point, during the height of the decoupaging rage of the 90's my Mom and I painted it white, and decoupaged some rose tissue paper on it. Anddd it looked a little like this
What a quality job I know, this might also be from my mom's "shabby chic" + chartreuse phase she went through for a while, but promptly gave up because... well I'm glad she's over that.
Inspired by all the fabulous ideas on Pinterest a couple months ago I gave it a makeover.
Now it fits perfectly with my taste + in  my house.

& it's purpose is to stash my kids toys in our family rooming.
That is the circle of life come to fruition.
I love it.

Tufted ottoman before & after

Tuesday, June 24, 2014
I've  been wanting to tuft something for a long time. Isn't that everyone's desire? I know you all walk around thinking that every day... you could hash tag that DIY'er problems.
Anyways I ran across this coffee table that had pretty legs andddd that was about the extent of the good about it. Oh, it wasn't in pieces... so I guess it had 2 positive attributes but good bones will get you everywhere in life.

I'll just go ahead and spoil it, here is the after

And here is the sad before

All it took was a couple inches of foam
Upholstery buttons
Upholstery thread
Home decor fabric
A drill
And a mathematician husband

I spent a couple extra bucks having a local upholstery shop make the buttons for me so they would be sturdy and done well. Totally worth it.
You can buy your own button cover maker machine and do them yourself.... but
I say spend the few bucks extra and save yourself the headache and time.

Doesn't even look like the same table right? I love how it turned out. Bad news is I want to tuft all the things now.
I might need to look into DIY'er therapy.

A little peek into our guest room.

Sunday, March 9, 2014
We had some visitors which inspired me to work on the guest room this last week. The antique atlas maps were in my house when we bought it, but the bottom was beige. Since the pages are indeed antiques I haven't built up the heart to take them down, even though I really wanted a far fresher feel.
What is more fresh than white?
I would say nothing.
So, I basically unpainted the room and called it a day.
I still have window treatments to finish sewing, my machine decided to take a permanent vacation in the middle of the first panel sooooo… I will have to show you those later.
The only hint I will give is… I really love ticking stripes.
Insert winking face.
If you follow me on Instagram you've seen these lamps, I kinda love them. One of them found a home in here.

The white ruched duvet is from Target
The sheet set is Ralph Lauren via TJ Maxx
The euros are West Elm via Downeast
and the geometric pillow is another Homegoods find.

This old chippy ladder I found at at The Oldbrickhouse Market that they do monthly in historic downtown Mesa.
I should hang it or something.

The art above the bed is made by me, and the burlap bunny garland adds a little touch of spring, it is from Target.

I kinda love that unpainting a room brightens it up SO much. I am so glad white is trendy because I love it, even on walls!

A new accent chair &so much personality.

Wednesday, January 29, 2014
A lot of times I go to peoples houses, and their seating arrangements are 1/2 done.
The concept of an accent chair kind of blows peoples minds because they think it has to "match."
Accent chairs are meant to accent, not coordinate.
It's a really simple way to add a big dose of character in whatever style you're going for.
I recently added this chair to my family room arrangement.
It's a very classic channel back chair, in a timeless design & covering.

I like to keep it simple with main pieces in my home so I can change the other things out on whatever whim I want.
It makes it easier on the budget, and easier to change the whole look without doing much.

Do you utilize accent chairs in your house? They really bring so much to a room, no matter what look or style you are going for.

If you're looking for inspiration for accent chairs in your home, One Kings Lane has an excellent guide to figure out what style of chair is best for you, or help you figure out what style you already have. It makes it easier to keep your home coherent once you figure out the true styles you are attracted to.

Snowflake party for a girl who is THREE!

Monday, December 23, 2013
My sweet baby is now THREE years old. I can't believe it, I don't even want to.
When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday all she would tell me was cupcakes, friends and snowflakes. Well, we live in Arizona… so the chance of snowflakes of the real variety were slim to none.
I decided to just do a snowflake themed party for her, which I was HAPPY to do because you know how easy it is to find snowflake decor in December? Yah, it was a cinch.

You might as well count this as my Christmas decor post, because I highly doubt I'll get to posting about the rest of our Christmas home.

My favorite thing I did was a snowflake wall out of coffee filters. It turned out SO pretty, and anthropologie-esque. I never want to take it down.

The photo booth wall, that I forgot to take pictures of the kids in front of. Oh well. I guess I could say it was the "welcome" wall because people saw it right when they walked in.
Yes, I plan on taking down that wrapping paper & wrapping christmas presents with it.
Economical I know.

The birthday girl got a teepee for christmas. I had a girl locally make it for me, and I absolutely love it!

Babies breath looks like snow covered branches? Right? That's what I was going for.

Anyways, I think it was a success. The kids painted snowflake ornaments & it didn't turn into a disaster of epic proportions considering none were older than 4.
Grace & her friends had a happy time so that's all that really matters.

Big girl room: Confetti Wall.

Thursday, June 20, 2013
I fell in love with this image on Pinterest.
I kept looking at it over & over. I just loved how free & flowing it was. So with the help of my favorite vinyl making friend extraordinaire, we cut 144 gold dots out of vinyl.

All I had to do is stick them on just like stickers, it was pretty awesome. Not to mention inexpensive.
We rent at the moment so I'm always looking for ways I can spice up the walls that isn't damaging or permanent, vinyl is definitely a good solution!

Sorry for the horrible pictures, my daughter's room is super cave-like in it's size &  natural lighting.

Peek into Grace's big girl room redo.

Wednesday, April 24, 2013
I've been having so much fun putting together my daughter's "big girl" room. Well she's 2, so not really big girl qualified yet.... but you get the point.

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram I've been posting pictures, but I know a lot of you don't so I thought I would post a sneak peek here. There's still a lot of little odds & ends to be finished before I would call it done, which is what I'm trying to run around doing.

I've been working on a tight budget, so usually that means taking longer than normal waiting for a screaming deal to come along.
Like the Anthropologie rug I found for super cheap.

I wanted her room to be bursting with color & inspiration.
Her bedding is a hodge podge, but I kind of like it that way.

Duvet from Ikea
Sheet set from Homegoods
Throw pillows from Marshalls
Bed Skirt from Target
Bed is vintage painted in Glass Slipper by Benjamin Moore
Rug originally from Anthropologie

Can't wait to finish the odds & ends and show you her whole space!

A spring wreath.

Tuesday, April 2, 2013
I am totally in love with the wreath gracing our front door at the moment.

I was inspired by this wreath that Emily of Jones Design Company shared last spring.
I used muslin instead of linen, and bought the nest already made from Hobby Lobby [cheater I know.]

It's the perfect dose of Spring!
