WIW: Pink Denim

Tuesday, February 28, 2012
I love me some colored denim. Seriously, it's one of my favorite trends right now.
This pair is the perfect shade of soft blush pink, and I absolutely adore them. They are probably the most comfortable pair of pants I own too.  It's a super bonus that I am always surprised how much they match with too.

This is how I would look if you caught me on a day of errands. I am an avid fan of put together mom's on the go. Plus, I find that usually how I look directly correlates with how I feel. I can probably count on 1 hand how many times I've left the house in my pajamas.

WIW: Girls night out.

Tuesday, February 21, 2012
I should probably start by saying this is what I planned on wearing to a GNO to see The Vow.
BUTT
When my friend showed up to get me in her pjs I was like uh, I think I'll change.
Well maybe she demanded that I change... so that's what I did..... quickly into a t-shirt with a belligerent owl, slouchy sweater, and slippers.
I know, classy.
They say you can never be overdressed. I am here as a testament that you indeed can.

Sweater: TJ Maxx, Shell/Pants/Necklace: LOFT, Shoes: Ross

On another note I love these shoes. They are 1) wedges 2) super high 3) floral with bows. Hello love!

WIW: Posing in the street.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012
Our little family is hangin in Las Vegas for a little bit while the Mr. attends some work training.
I lived here for so long and loved this city a LOT.
Lo and behold, four months in our new home in Arizona and all of a sudden Vegas is crowded and horribly loud. At least much more so than I remember it being for the 18 years before I moved away.
And you know what? This city isn't very enchanting at all... like ZERO personality.
Sorry Vegas peeps... this town isn't all that fab.
I like the cottonfields, farms, and horses around my new hood SO much better.

This outfit however is kinda fab & oh so comfortable. Even though I might not look so comfortable in it posing out in the street.

If you happen to be wondering... yes, I did cut my hair even shorter. All the extra hair around my face is now gone... I guess now I have a TRUE pixie... instead of my previous "imposter" pixie cut.
Blouse/Cardigan: Old Navy, Jeans: NY&Co.via Ross, Flats: Steve Madden via Ross, Bag: Ross

Oh & Mr. Spencer thinks he's hilarious imitating my poses... oh how he is so NOT funny.
Okay- maybe a little funny.

Who does he think he is?!

I'll be linking this up here, here, and here.

Pixie.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012
I finally did it.
I took the plunge. I went down the less taken road. I manned up [ er I mean pixied up?! ].
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that today I cut my hair.
OFF.
HACKED.
SNIP.
Okay I'm done with the dramatics.

I've been wanting a pixie for a long time but I wasn't sure I had the face type, the hair type, or the bravery necessary.
But I am really into that show with Ginnifer Goodwin, Once Upon a Time... and every week I would almost literally die when I saw how cute she was and how she rocked it so good.
Well she plays the Snow White character, and growing up Snow White was always my favorite not to mention I was Snow White for probably 5 Halloweens in a row.
I decided it was a sign.. I just needed to do it.
So today I did.

I can totally mohawk it if I want.
Isn't that enough said?!
I pretty much love.

It's funny how doing something that you have been mulling over for a while can be so liberating.

Pregnant lady fashion.

Wednesday, November 23, 2011
I have been getting asked a lot for advice on what to wear during pregnancy/post baby.
Well... I will tell you that I don't really know. I'm not a seasoned expert. I've only done it once.
BUT I can tell you what I did. and I can tell you that I didn't buy a single maternity piece the entire pregnancy.
I think this all depends on how you carry. I didn't get wide sideways at all... so all this is extremely subjective but I think it might be a little helpful too.

Let's start with the basics and then we can spice things up at the end. Here we go.

First of all, I suggest a Belly Be Band.
They are $17 at Target. They allow you to wear your jeans or pre-baby pants throughout your pregnancy and you can wear them under your shirts to hide them away. I was wearing my designer jeans until I was like 8 months and everyone wondered how on earth I did it... well here is my secret.

Second, wear undershirts.

I favor ones from Downeast and I just got a size larger than usual and slipped it over my belly. It added so much support to my growing lady bumps and lumps and allowed me to always feel "tucked in" if ya know what I mean.

Third, wear lots of stretch pants.
I wore A LOT of leggings.  They aren't restrictive like denim and are so comfy. Not to mention they can sit right below your belly and don't need to be zipped or buttoned. These are a heaven send during pregnancy and for the few months after... heck, I am still addicted to them.

Those are the basics, so with that foundation it's time to make it cute.
Tunics.

Any shirt that is longer than normal will work perfectly for you. I wore a lot of similar shapes to this one here minus the belt. Basically anything that doesn't cling to you will be flattering on your momma figure.
I know it is hard to imagine that you will be able to fit into anything resembling fashionable so here is an example. I can't believe I'm sharing this-- here I am in all my huge glory.
I was about to pop at this point but you get the picture.

Accessorize. Accessorize. Accessorize.
Try to wear statement pieces with your outfits because they will make all the difference. They will turn that frump right around and make you look totally put together and glam. Not to mention they will distract from other parts of your body you'd rather not spotlight.

Big earrings. Big necklaces. Scarves. This helped me to remain feeling pretty and girly despite my balloon like figure.

This picture reminded me of the last thing I wanted to share which is wear cardigans. Drapey, comfy, and they make your belly sticking out look a lot less harsh.

And that is a wrap. If you do all of these I guarantee it will help your style survive through those exciting but brutal [yes I just admitted out loud pregnancy's true nature] 9 months and on through the first few months of motherhood until your body is a little more normal. Even though we all know that things will NEVER be the same in that department.

I hope that helped a little.
